We’ll Bite This Universe In Two

A simple piece that evokes the endearingly clumsy and curious light in which children see the world. I imagine the music unfolding as if children come onto the stage, discovering certain instruments for the very first time, and clumsily, yet playfully, plunk out a simple, endearing tune. It first appears as only a single line, with awkward interruptions from others finding their way around their instruments. But then, one line becomes a dyad, a dyad becomes a chord, and the clunky, awkward interruptions become a quirky counterpoint to the main melody. This jubilant, eccentric exploration continues through a symphony of curious musicians playfully tinkering with their newfound toys.
